Scholar Programming

After students are admitted into the program, they will engage with OpSTEM during the following time frames:

Summer Entering Freshman Year

All scholars will participate in the OpSTEM Summer Institute. The OpSTEM Summer Institute is an onboarding summer bridge experience that onboards students to Cleveland State University. Click here to learn more about our OpSTEM Summer Insitute!

Freshman Fall & Spring Semesters

Scholars will participate in the following both semesters:

  • Mandatory Supplemental Instruction known as STEM Peer Teacher (SPT) Sessions
  • Professional Development Workshops (Resume writing / LinkedIn / Looking & Landing Internships and Co-Ops / etc.)
  • Social Events (game night and movie night each semester)
  • OpSTEM Coaching
  • Academic Course Guidance

Summer Following Freshman Year

Scholars who take MTH 165 / MTH 167 the fall of their freshman year and MTH 168 the spring semester of their freshman year will automatically gaurentee their spot in MTH 180 - Operation STEM Summer Calculus. MTH 180 is a 0-credit, pass/fail course that runs for 8 weeks.
