Important note regarding undergraduate scholarships: Students who are awarded institutional scholarships, including University Freshmen and Transfer awards, Honors and Athletics awards , and who subsequently are awarded an academic department scholarship may have one of their scholarship award amounts adjusted. Scholarships for Incoming First-Year Undergraduate Students
Dean’s Scholarship in Memory of Jean and Ken Bond
The scholarship shall award up to $3,000 per year toward tuition and fees for a student meeting the following criteria:
- The recipient must be an incoming freshman for the 2021-22 academic year, directly admitted into the College of Sciences and Health Professions (COSHP) and enrolled full-time for the Fall and Spring semesters.

Continued waiver for 2021-22. The recipient must have a minimum ACT composite score of 23 (or SAT equivalent).
- The recipient must complete a FAFSA, demonstrating some level of financial need.
- The recipient must complete an essay on their desire to pursue a science major and career.
The scholarship is renewable for up to three additional years, provided that the recipient maintains a COSHP major and a cumulative GPA of at least 2.8, and completes a minimum of 30 credit hours per academic year.
General Electric Scholars
The GE Scholarship Program is made possible through a gift from General Electric Company. Each year, a minimum of 5 students will be selected as GE Scholars.
Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Applicants must be currently enrolled at CSU as full-time undergraduate students, with a class status of rising sophomore, junior or senior
- Applicants must demonstrate financial need;
- Applicants must have a cumulative GPA at or above 3.0;
- Applicants must submit an essay on the topic “How do you plan to use your STEM education at Cleveland State University to improve the human condition locally, nationally and/or globally?”
Preference will be given to applicants who are graduates of MC2STEM High School and are majoring in a STEM program at Cleveland State (or MC2STEM graduates majoring in non-STEM programs at Cleveland State, if there are insufficient candidates in STEM programs). Students majoring in STEM programs at Cleveland State who are graduates of any school within the Cleveland Metropolitan School District are also encouraged to apply.
This scholarship is renewable by re-application, with preference given to current GE Scholars (with consideration to class standing and program of study) and GE Scholars who have completed an internship or co-op with GE.
Scholarships for Continuing Undergraduate Students
Applications for the 2022-2023 academic year (Fall 2022 and Spring 2023) are closed.
Applications for the awards listed below are typically posted during Spring Break, and are due on May 1st of each year.
