Research Interests
Dr. Wolin is an Associate Professor of Environmental Science. She received her B.S. in Biology and her M.S. in Biology from Eastern Michigan University and her Ph.D. in Natural Resources from the University of Michigan. She is a member of the American Society of Limnology and Oceanography, the International Society for Diatom Research, the North American Benthological Society, and the Society of Wetland Scientists. She has been a faculty member of Cleveland State University since 2000.
Dr. Wolin is an environmental scientist who specializes in the use of diatoms as bioindicators. Her research interests and publications have been involved with understanding the natural variation in freshwater ecosystems and the extent to which human activities have altered them. She uses a combination of modern diatom assemblage data, paleolimnological techniques, and quantitative environmental reconstruction to estimate past conditions and natural variability, to identify disturbances in aquatic/wetland ecosystems, and to determine rates of change and recovery.
